⦠PAYBACK
THERE WOULD be a next time; Travis Rainey would come for his dope; Nav had no doubt, sitting in the passenger seat. Behind the wheel, Veni was pissed they didnât kill those fuckers when they had the chance, Daljit and Danny showing off, blasting the van full of holes. Veni wanting to know where the fucking cop came from.
âThat was no cop,â Nav said, trying to figure out what happened before they made their move. Telling Veni to take it easy, he called Dannyâs cell, Danny in the back seat of the Accord right behind them, Daljit driving, Nav wanting to know how bad Benji was hit, Danny saying he took one in the side, he couldnât tell how bad, just knew they had to stop the bleeding.
âLeast we got their dope,â Nav heard Benji say over the phone, Danny telling him to keep still. Nav told them to hang on and made a second call, getting Benji some medical attention. Sikander, a doctor back in India, would be on his way from the city, bringing his black bag. Benji would have to hang on.
âWeâll get another chance,â Nav told Danny, then he hung up, looking out the back, Daljit keeping the Accord right behind them.
âWhich one fired the rocket?â Veni asked, checking his speedometer, easing off on the pedal.
âOne with the gray in his hair.â Nav took out his cell and punched in another number, knowing he needed more guys, sure there would be more than four when Roscoâs crew came looking to take their dope back.
